Will the TaylorMade M6 Driver improve your game?
There’s no doubt that the Driver continues to be a vital component in your golf set. Fairway shots and nail-biting putts in the green can win games, but it’s the Driver that gets you off to the right start. And if starting well is of any importance to you (it should), getting the right Driver should be a top item on your list.
TaylorMade is a brand that leads the pack when it comes to drivers. Now, that doesn’t mean all their drivers are great for everybody. No single brand has that kind of universal utility and appeal.
But one thing that TaylorMade does well they create clubs that deliver what they claim on paper. Today, we’ll check out the TaylorMade M6 Driver and see if it holds up to the high standards that the company has, so far, delivered.
TaylorMade M6 Driver Review
If there’s one thing the M6 Driver stands out for, it’s the exceptional ball speed, thanks to the superior forgiveness. This Driver gets you the speeds you want even when your striking location varies in and around the sweet spot.
It comes with some of TaylorMade’s signature traits like Speed Injected, Inertia Generator, and the Twist Face curvature. The M6 does a great job of combining these various elements into one swing-and-hit club that gives both the amateur and the pro something to work with.
It’s easy to use and scores well on aesthetics too. The M6 is on the higher side when it comes to affordability. Whether it’s worth the price will depend on understanding the features better and how it works.

Design Features of the TaylorMade M6 Driver
The Twist Face
The M6 Driver retains TaylorMade’s signature Twist Face design was first introduced in 2018. It was a revolutionary innovation back then, and it’s an indispensable part of their drivers today. It’s also what makes it an excellent option for both beginner golfers and advanced alike.
The Twist Face addresses the most common mis-hits with drivers – low-heel and high-toe impacts. So, if you hit a hook (high-toe), the twisted and open face increases the loft to keep the ball flight straight. In a slice (low-heel), the closed ‘twist’ will help decrease lofting for better results.
Essentially, the Twist Face creates straighter shots and less side-spin on any off-center shots. It makes the M6 Driver all the more suitable for players of all skill levels.
Speed Injected
Until a couple of years back, there weren’t any golf clubs that could hit the speed limit consistently. TaylorMade’s Speed Injected technology stepped in to fill this void, and you can feel it well in the M6 Driver.
The Speed Injected technology involves inserting the optimum amount of tuning resin into the slots that sit on the driver’s face. What it does is allow the M6 Driver to achieve better distance by maximizing ball speed.
There is a consensus that you can come close to 2-3% of what the legal limit prescribes. The company uses a proprietary algorithm to ensure that resin injection is precise to stay within the legal limits.
Carbon Sole with Inertia Generator
TaylorMade’s flagship drivers all come with Inertia Generator, which is essentially a combination of aerodynamics, forgiveness, and CG projection.
The aerodynamics of the M6 is better suited for a faster downswing. Simply put, the faster you swing, the farther the ball usually goes. The sleek and optimized shape of the clubhead is geared for much better speed and distance. The Carbon sole gives the club less weight by replacing metal soles. Compared to the older M4 Driver, the M6 houses over 50% more carbon. This allows the ‘Inertia Generator’ to store an additional 46g for increased forgiveness.
Hammerhead 2.0
If you’re familiar with TaylorMade’s Speed Pocket tech, you can think of the Hammerhead as an extended variant of the SP feature. It’s essentially a slot that has a more dynamic center of the pocket. The slot comes with reinforced walls that preserve energy and provide a more stable impact.
The difference with the M6 Driver’s Hammerhead 2.0 is that it has an even more flexible slot than the initial Hammerhead design. Also, it works as a part of the overall design along with the Twist Face to ensure that off-center strikes still maintain speed and distance due to the corrective face angle giving a consistent spin to the ball.
Taylormade M6 Driver Final Assessment
Aesthetics and Appearance
You can always expect TaylorMade to one-up the look of their clubs, especially if they belong to the same series. With the M drivers, it’s no different. The most obvious change with the M6 is the matte black crown to prevent glare during the day. Also, the M6 still sports the classic driver shape that most golfers are familiar with.
Feel and Sound
The M6 Driver has a more substantial feel compared to its predecessors. The power is not what you usually expect from older TaylorMade drivers. So, that’s a plus point!
The club heads’ impact sound is considerably more muted than the M4, carrying forward a satisfyingly solid sound when you hit the sweet spot. But as far as the sound and feel both goes, some players may prefer the cheaper M4 as a better alternative.
Accurate Performance Package
The M6 indeed performs as well as you’d expect from all those trademark techs it houses. Our tests revealed that a golfer with average swing speeds could, in terms of distance, hit 280 yards, with aggregate ball speeds of above 160mph. Maximum ball speeds while still allowing for maximum forgiveness equals an increase in distance.
However, like any other club, the results depend on the consistency and stability of your swing. So, don’t be afraid to give it a few sessions before you conclude the numbers.

The TaylorMade M6 Driver is an easy-to-hit, forgiving, high-launching driver suitable for a variety of courses and playing-levels. Some would say the complete Driver.
