Cobra: Brand Overview
Cobra is a California-based sports equipment manufacturing company that focuses on golf tools, producing a wide variety of golf clubs. Its founder, Thomas Crow, an Australian amateur golf winner, started Cobra in 1973. Also, the company has its headquarters in Carlsbad, California.
In 1980, they launched the ‘Baffler,’ which was among the first utility woods. Cobra is also the 1st club manufacturer in the U.S to provide stock graphite-shafted irons and woods.
In 1992, the company became the 1st major manufacturer of complete set oversized irons. In 2010, Cobra and Puma started their golf partnership. Before partnering with Puma, the company had also worked with the Acushnet umbrella.
Additionally, a number of top players have also used the clubs from Cobra in the past. Some famous names include Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau, Ian Poulter, Camilo Villegas, Lexi Thompson, and Geoff Ogilvy.
Why Choose Cobra Max Irons?
Here are a few reasons as to why you should choose Cobra Max irons:
- Great value for money
- Quality forgiveness
- Good accuracy & reliability
- Solid feel and excellent look with enough feedback
- These irons have a speed channel at the bottom to ensure fast swing speed
- Hitting and launching the long irons is easy
The Features of Cobra Max Irons
Now, let’s take a look at the features of Cobra Max clubs:
Speed Channel Face and Perimeter Undercut
The clubs’ speed channel face features an engineered trench at the back of the face area. This reduces the face thickness & works in conjunction with a perimeter undercut present in short irons. All these translate to maximum flexion at impact for fast ball speeds.
Iron Design
Design-wise, the Max irons don’t have anything fancy on the exterior. The irons, however, feature a deeper back and a larger top. Such adjustment settings ensure more ball forgiveness.
Also, the blue paint job makes these irons pop on the course. As these clubs have a larger top line, it becomes easier for you to line up & aim.
How is the Performance?
The overall performance of these irons is excellent. The distance results are solid: plenty of carry and incredibly consistent yardages.
Relatively speaking, several other irons available today are usually longer. Nonetheless, the distance capabilities offered by the Cobra Max irons are enough for most golfers. These irons also boast excellent overall forgiveness.
While these clubs are perfectly playable in most situations, you may experience some difficulty when certain finesse is needed for making contact.
What About the Look, Feel, and Sound?
Looks-wise, the Max irons from Cobra is pretty traditional. These clubs have a sufficiently thick top line, reasonable sole width, and offsets are pretty substantial.
The Max irons also do a commendable job in the feel/sound department. While they do feel slightly heavy, it doesn’t hinder the actual performance and functionality.
What do the Other Customers/Reviewers Think?
Reviewers and customers generally love the Max irons for their effortless launch, comparatively straight ball flight, dependable distance, and incredible forgiveness.
There aren’t any major negative feedbacks other than some common complaints about the irons being slightly heavy.
Where to Purchase The Max Irons Online?
The MA irons are not available in abundance at present, especially since they’re an older model. The bright side about this is that you can get them for a meager price.
You can get them on Amazon. However, they may run out of stock at times.
